Quiet closure: End of production
Setbacks
Last week, we were not able to complete quite as much work as we wanted, since half of our group was attending a game jam – we will work harder to catch up on everything during the polish phase, which is dangerously close.
Although there still are a few missing pieces here and there, we don’t feel as though there have been many actual setbacks – we are now quite confident that we can finish on time and deliver an entertaining product for the public.
Technical Updates
All the mechanics have been successfully implemented. The menus are almost finished, and we have implemented a far more visually appealing UI. The menus include options and a character selection screen – although the options menu still requires quite a bit of work.
Otherwise, we’ve successfully implemented object collision, fire particles for the tea lamps, and made many smaller adjustments here and there to further improve the overall experience.
Graphical Updates
We now have a fun, fully complete level that is a blast to play. There are a ton of new props included, a hectic style of decoration that will keep players on their toes, as well as the properly rigged and animated character models. Everything is finally coming together into an interesting visual experience.
Now that we have all we need, we can also easily include other levels. We’ve also added a floor and the final trash goal to ensure that the entirety of the environment feels complete enough.
Back on schedule with positivity to spare
There is still plenty of testing to go through, and final aspects that we need to tweak – and we are very well aware of how little time there is left to complete this. However, we’re still very happy with what we’ve achieved so far, and how much more we can make it.
The polishing phase will be very interesting, to say the least. We hope to tweak more aspects such as the lighting, better backgrounds, fun sound effects, and more finely tuned menus – we hope you’ll stay and watch it happen.
